WETLANDS FOR OUR COMMON FUTURE

World Wetlands Day 2025

Wetlands are nature’s powerhouses, supporting biodiversity, purifying water, and regulating climate. Alarmingly, they are disappearing at three times the rate of forests. February 2nd, World Wetlands Day, serves as a global call to action to safeguard these irreplaceable ecosystems.

The Ramsar Convention, established in 1971, emphasizes the significance of wetlands for both humanity and the planet. According to official records, a single hectare of wetland ecosystem generates an annual ecological value of $14,000—seven times that of tropical rainforests and 160 times that of farmland. Learn more about Ramsar's work here: Ramsar Official Site.

Wetlands and Climate: A Natural Carbon Sink

Wetlands are the Earth’s “spleen,” offering indispensable services like flood mitigation, pollution control, and habitat preservation. Most critically, they are vital carbon sinks. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) highlights their ability to absorb significant amounts of CO2, reducing global greenhouse gas levels. Read the UNEP research here: UNEP Wetlands Research.

Protecting wetlands is key to maintaining ecological balance and combating climate change. By safeguarding these areas, we contribute to global carbon reduction and a sustainable future.

SENIX’s Sustainable Practices

At SENIX, we take responsibility for preserving wetlands and protecting the planet. Our recycling initiatives process over 100 tons of materials annually, cutting 150 tons of carbon emissions. Through innovative water-saving systems, we conserve 600 tons of water each yearSENIX | ESG—enough to sustain 10 hectares of vegetation.

Additionally, our industrial park features a solar photovoltaic system with a capacity of 5.358 MW, generating over 5 million kWh annually and offsetting 1,300 tons of CO2. By upgrading lighting equipment, we save 194,400 kWh of electricity yearly, sufficient to power 50 households for a year.企业微信截图_20250124085016.png
